SARS-CoV-2 infection leads to rapid innate immunity activation; therefore, some levels of hematological parameters (white blood cells, lymphopenia, C-reactive protein (CRP), lactate dehydrogenase, and creatine kinase), proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1B, IL-6, IL-8, and G-CSF), and chemokines (MCP1, IP10, and MIP1a) are significantly elevated in the blood of patients with COVID-19 9,10. Here, CRP is linked to lymphopenia.
