To examine the association of IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8 with pathological types, the Kruskal-Wallis test was first examined, as presented in Table 2 and Figure 1, the serum level of CEA in the adenocarcinoma group (6.74 ng/ml) was significantly higher than that in squamous cell carcinoma group (2.82 ng/ml) (p = 0.007), while the serum levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8 showed no significant difference among the three pathological types (p = 0.552, 0.065, 0.117). This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and adenocarcinoma.
