The deficiency of PTEN (phosphatase and tensin homolog on chromosome 10) tumor suppressor and the oncogenic activation of PI3K (phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase) signaling axis are among the most common altered signaling pathways in primary PCa that facilitate tumor occurrence, disease progression and therapeutic resistance (Shorning et al., 2020). Here, PTEN is linked to posterior cortical atrophy.
