We found that advanced age (P = 0.003), female (P = 0.020), prolonged period from injury to admission (P = 0.028), combined cranial trauma (P = 0.043), shorter thrombin time (P = 0.029), increased level of D-dimer (P = 0.013) and lower level of albumin (P = 0.039) were the independent risk factors for preoperative DVT in patients with intertrochanteric fractures (Table 3).
