Table 1 shows the baseline characteristics of participants by incident dementia. Compared with participants without incident dementia, those with incident dementia were older, less educated, less engaged in physical activity, and more likely to have CVDs, hypertension, a lower MMSE score, or at least one copy of the APOE ɛ4 allele. Moreover, participants with incident dementia were more likely to experience a large loss or gain in BMI/weight (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene APOE and hypertensive disorder.
