Infecting mouse bone-marrow-derived macrophage (BMDM) cells or mice with wildtype S. flexneri increased SIRT2 protein and mRNA levels while infection with the IpaJ deletion strain or IpaJ/VirA double deletion strain did not significantly change SIRT2 levels (Fig. 3B–C, Supplementary Fig. 2).
