PAICS and acute myeloid leukemia: Its knockdownresulted in reduced tumor growth in a mouse model of prostate cancer,3g and shRNA-mediated PAICS depletion reduced tumorgrowth in mouse models of lung,3k pancreas,4 breast,5 colorectal,6 and gastric cancer.7 PAICS has also been suggested as a target for treating neuroblastoma.8 A recent study has shown that pharmacologic inhibitionof PAICS by a recently developed inhibitor had an antileukemia effectboth in vitro and in vivo in a mousexenograft model of acute myeloid leukemia, thus identifying PAICSas a chemotherapy target.9
