FOXJ2 and male infertility: In the present study, using a germline-specific conditional Foxj2 knock-in mouse model (Stra8-cre; Foxj2tg/tg mouse), we showed that Foxj2 overexpression in the germ cells of mouse testes may affect chaperone-mediated autophagy (CMA) by upregulating lysosome-associated membrane protein 2A (LAMP2A), leading to failure of spermatogenesis starting at the initiation of meiosis, ultimately resulting in male infertility.
