Labad et al. using chemiluminescence assay (intra- and inter-assay CVs of 5% and 10%, respectively) for postpartum plasma ACTH assessment, found no correlation between plasma ACTH level and EPDS scores (42) but did find a significant relationship between higher plasma ACTH levels and mothers’ tendency to harm their infants, which is considered a reflection of psychological problems related to depression and anxiety (42). Here, POMC is linked to depressive symptom measurement.
