The logistic regression analysis of SNPs showed that decreased risk of severe RSV associated with two SNPs, the rs17886395_C allele of the SFTPA2 (OR=0.63, 95% CI 0.46-0.85, p = 0.002) and the rs2243639_A allele of the SFTPD (OR 0.64, 95% CI 0.41-0.99, p = 0.045) after adjusting for significant covariates (age, ethnicity, co-infection, smoke and pet exposure), and increased risk of severe RSV with the rs1059047_C (OR= 3.8, 95% CI 1.1-12.6, p=0.032) allele of the SFTPA1 after adjusting for the same covariates (Table 2). The gene discussed is SFTPD; the disease is coinfection.
