Mechanistically, FOXK2 can be involved in hepato-lung metastasis of colorectal cancer through transcription activation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and conversely, the activated EGFR signaling pathway can also activate FOXK2 through extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) and nuclear factor κB (NF-κB). Here, EGFR is linked to colorectal cancer.
