The serum albumin was significantly lower in cases with AA amyloidosis (17 vs. 21.3 g/L, P=0.0003), and the median serum creatinine as well as the magnitude of proteinuria was higher in AA compared to non-AA amyloidosis (serum creatinine, 427.4 vs. 230 μmol/L; proteinuria, 6.5 vs. 6 g/24 h) but failed to attain statistical significance. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is AA amyloidosis.
