In the current study, exercise training was found to significantly prevent activated mitochondria-dependent apoptotic pathways observed in sedentary hypertension, as evidenced by changes in hypertension-induced components of Bax, cytochrome c, Bcl-2, activated caspase-9, and activated caspase-3 levels after exercise training in heart (27). The gene discussed is CASP9; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
