Interestingly, AcetilCoA fermentation to butanoate was identified in 3xTg-Abx compared to 3xTg-Ctrl mice (p-values < 0.05 to <0.001 for each comparison) (Figure 8a–f); these metabolic pathways participate in AD appearance and progression such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFA: acetate, propionate, and butyrate), diacylglycerol related to apolipoprotein E, and peptidoglycan.
