In studies focusing on prostaglandin analogue-treated glaucoma patients, IL1B, IL6, and matrix metallopeptidases 1, 3, and 9 (MMP1, MMP3, and MMP9) were seen to be increased, while TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitors 1 and 2 (TIMP1 and TIMP2) were decreased [78,79]. The gene discussed is TIMP1; the disease is glaucoma.
