On the contrary, many common mutations found in variants were shown to increase the ACE2 binding affinity and increase the infection capacity of the virus.[39, 54, 55, 56] Therefore, using soluble ACE2 (sACE2) to block the natural ACE2‐Spike binding is a promising approach as these soluble decoy receptors can potentially overcome common forms of SARS‐CoV‐2 resistance including the novel variants.
