ACE2 and COVID-19: sACE2 was shown to inhibit SARS‐CoV‐2 infection in cell culture,[42] in vitro human organoids,[42] and recently a COVID‐19 patient with severe symptoms.[43] However, the affinity between ACE2 and the SARS‐CoV‐2 Spike protein is only moderate, and high concentrations of sACE2 are required to achieve sufficient levels of neutralization.
