ERBB2 and triple-negative breast carcinoma: Three main biological subtypes with distinct genetic, molecular, and clinical relevance have been defined: those expressing estrogen (ER+) and progesterone receptors (PR+), those overexpressing human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2+), with or without ER+, and those defined by the absence of all these receptors, called triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) [1,2].
