Yuzawa et al. reviewed three articles about 553 meningiomas whose genetic status was clarified by the NGS method and investigated the frequency of six genetic alterations (NF2, TRAF7, AKT1, KLF4, SMO, and PI1K3CA); the results showed that more than 60% of NF2-type meningiomas have a preferential localization at the level of the calvarium (convexity, parasagittal, or falcine) and are associated with more aggressive biological behavior and a higher recurrence rate [13]. The gene discussed is SMO; the disease is meningioma.
