There are two main forms of pemphigus: pemphigus vulgaris (PV) characterized by preferential mucosal involvement and the presence of auto-Abs that are mainly directed against DSG3, and pemphigus foliaceus (PF) characterized by exclusive skin lesions associated with the presence of anti-DSG1 auto-Abs [1,2]. Here, DSG1 is linked to pemphigus foliaceus.
