In RK13 cells, VC-R4+CRV157-K48A/K49A infection induced high levels of eIF2α phosphorylation, comparable to that seen in VC-R4 infected cells; whereas, VC-2, vP872 and VC-R4+E3L infections led to low eIF2α phosphorylation levels, and intermediate eIF2α phosphorylation levels were observed in VC-R4+CRV157 infected cells. This evidence concerns the gene EIF2A and infection.
