Detection of GFAP in human CSF or serum is a critical biomarker of neuropathology, contributing to diagnoses of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) [5,6,7]. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
