Post-translational modifications (PTMs) previously reported for GFAP include site-specific phosphorylations associated with Alexander’s disease [9], PD [10], and FTLD [11]; acetylations at six lysine residues in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) [12]; and citrullination at five arginine residues in AD [13].
