In conclusion, at the one year follow-up, it was shown that the improvement of lifestyle in a sample of MetS patients may have a double effect on their cardiometabolic health: on one hand through anthropometric changes and the improvement of MetS parameters, and on the other hand, by the increase of ucOC levels, which improves glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity by its action on beta pancreatic cells. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
