CRP and hyperphosphatemia: Our multivariate correlations analysis revealed Omentin-1 as the most robust independent predictor of carotid atherosclerosis (β-0.687; p = 0.03), even more than total cholesterol, diastolic BP and age, and this adipokine was at the crossroad of a complex interplay with sustained inflammation (high CRP and ferritin) and hyperphosphatemia in predicting higher cIMT values.
