KEGG pathway analysis indicated that most of the genes with significantly lower expression in patients with NASH were involved in the biosynthesis and detoxification of metabolites, integration of insulin signalling with mitochondrial function, transport of metabolites that govern mitochondrial-cytosol crosstalk, and reversible transamination between alanine and α-KG to generate pyruvate and glutamate. The gene discussed is INS; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
