The decreased phosphorylation of AMPK with the increased expression of fatty acid synthase (FASN) and the increased phosphorylation of mTOR, S6, 4E-BP1, and AKT (Figure 3c) suggested a key regulatory role of mTORC1 signalling in apoptosis induction and autophagy inhibition in patients with NASH. Here, FASN is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
