The role of MALAT1 in inflammation and cancer progression was demonstrated by Huang et al. in hepatocellular carcinoma, where MALAT1 promotes cancer cell growth by binding Brahma-related gene 1 (BRG1) and recruiting it into the promoter region of IL-6 and CXCL8, thus enabling transcription factors to start the expression of these pro-inflammatory mediators [48]. Here, CXCL8 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
