In particular, MMP11 (also known as stromelysin-3) expression by the intratumor stroma has been reportedly correlated with the aggressive phenotype and poor clinical outcome in several solid tumors, such as breast cancer [19,20,21], where its expression seems to be associated with an inflammatory phenotype [22,23], and also in PCa [24,25]. This evidence concerns the gene MMP11 and breast carcinoma.
