CD1D and neoplasm: Due to these cytotoxic and immunomodulatory functions, iNKT cells have been further described as central participants of antitumor immunity, not only by directly targeting CD1d-expressing malignant cells for cytolysis [20,21,22,23,24,25], but also by killing or reprogramming pro-tumor immunosuppressive myeloid cells in the tumor microenvironment [26,27].
