Irinotecan-resistant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells are characterized by increased oxidative phosphorylation, and treatment with gossypol (pan-ALDH inhibitor) and phenformin (OXPHOS inhibitor) reversed irinotecan resistance in a tested xenograft model of human NSCLC [35]. The gene discussed is LDHA; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
