Wang et al. [71] found a strong correlation between the expression levels of miR-BART10-5p (a viral miRNA) and miR-18a (a member of the oncogenic miR-17-92 cluster) and NPC angiogenesis; BART10-5p and miR-18a directly co-target Spry3 to regulate VEGF and HIF1-α expression, which in turn strongly promote angiogenesis in NPC. This evidence concerns the gene HIF1A and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
