These mutations often, but not always, tend to occur in AML-associated oncogenes, including nucleophosmin 1, (NPM1), isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 (IDH 1, IDH 2), Wilms Tumor 1 (WT1), Runt-related transcription factor 1 (RUNX1), Tet methylcytosine dioxygenase 2 (TET2), and DNA (cytosine-5)-methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3A) among others.
