These results shed some light on the relationship between ER stress and CAFs, but the underlying regulatory mechanisms are still largely unknown and future work might be focused on how ER stress-related pathways (e.g., IRE1α, EIF2AK3, and ATF6 pathways) regulate CAFs in CRC TME and the role of CAFs in influencing CRC progression. Here, ATF6 is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
