A screening study of a kinase inhibitor library revealed that the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) and Rho-associated coiled-coil-containing protein kinase (ROCK) inhibitors are sufficient to reprogram GBM cells into neurons, which express neuronal markers and generate action potentials and neurotransmitter-receptor-mediated currents [52]. The gene discussed is MTOR; the disease is glioblastoma.
