Our data shown previously indicate that Ambra1 haploinsufficiency results in RPE hypertrophy (Figure 7A-C) [36,44], increased oxidative stress (Figures 5F-G and 7E) [45], and inflammation (Figure 3I-J, S3C-D), features previously linked to AMD [46]. This evidence concerns the gene AMBRA1 and age-related macular degeneration.
