NLRP3 and IL1-β genes, which are related to pyroptosis, i.e., cell-death mediated by the formation of the inflammasome, were upregulated in THP-1 cells in response to A. dhakensis, A. caviae, A. media, and A. veronii infections (p < 0.05), while the gene expression was very low after infection with A. piscicola and A. jandaei and showed no significant differences in relation with the expression in the non-infected cells (Figure 4). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and infection.
