Based on rodent models, it has been proposed that DNAAF4 mutation affects neuronal migration in the developing neocortex (Wang et al., 2006) The link between DNAAF4 and dyslexia requires further confirmation since this gene did not associate with dyslexia in follow-up studies on other populations (Scerri, 2004; Marino et al., 2005).
