GPX4 is the key protein responsible for the antioxidation of ferroptosis, and we found that GPX4 deficiency not only induced ferroptosis but hematopoietic cells of mice deficient in GPX4 resulted in anaemia owing to the induction of RIP3-dependent necroptosis (but not apoptosis and ferroptosis) [55]. Here, GPX4 is linked to anemia (phenotype).
