E-cadherin expression is often found to be lower in BPH tissues (Kim et al., 2013; Li F. et al., 2019; Xu et al., 2019; Pascal et al., 2021a), and conditional knockout of E-cadherin in the mouse prostate causes loss of epithelial barrier function, inflammation and hyperplasia (Pascal et al., 2021b). Here, CDH1 is linked to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
