Our analysis of TAPBP mRNA i-expression on malaria outcomes in Uganda took into account the level of tapasin dependence of HLA-I allotypes, and, as predicted, the TAPBP mRNA i-expression levels strongly modified the effect of tapasin-dependent allotypes on malaria outcomes, whereas they had little to no effect on tapasin-independent allotypes. The gene discussed is TAPBP; the disease is malaria.
