Intriguingly, dysregulation of the key genes driving this enrichment in the SARS-CoV-2 thalamus (Nrp1, App, Crtc1, Ctnnd2, Camk2a, Kalrn, Bmp7, Ppp1r9b, Mecp2, Cux1, Dlg4, Apoe, Ephb2, Map2k7, and Ephb1) are associated with cognitive impairments and affective disorders such as major depressive disorder when analyzed together using Enrichr’s DisGeNET function (95). Here, CUX1 is linked to major depressive disorder.
