Notably, we have recently reported that chronic administration of myristic acid (a 14‐carbon saturated fatty acid (14:0)), which is a saturated fatty acid, increases DGKδ protein levels in vivo in skeletal muscle of Nagoya‐Shibata‐Yasuda mice, which are known as a mouse model of type II diabetes, and reduces blood glucose levels during glucose tolerance tests and insulin‐responsive blood glucose levels [15]. The gene discussed is DGKD; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
