The main intracellular signalling pathways that are implicated in the pathogenesis of RA include the Janus Kinase/signal transducers and activators of transcription (JAK/STAT), Nuclear factor kappa B (NF‐κB), the mitogen‐activated protein kinases (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositide‐3 kinase/protein kinase B (PI‐3K/AKT) [27, 28, 29].
