NLRC4 and infection: Further infections of WT, Pad4-/- and Nlrc4-/- neutrophils with pyroptotic strains PP34ExoUS142A and PAO1ΔExoS also showed that WT and Pad4-/- neutrophils underwent a similar degree of NLRC4-dependent pyroptosis, hence excluding that PAD4 might directly modulate assembly of the NLRC4 inflammasome upon P. aeruginosa infection (Fig 4F).
