Increased OPG levels have been related to cardiometabolic alterations such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. In patients with SLE, increased serum OPG has been associated with subclinical atherosclerosis, in RA elevated OPG levels correlated with cIMT and higher PWV. Here, TNFRSF11B is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
