AGER and Alzheimer disease: Advanced glycosylation end-product-specific receptor (AGER) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that is expressed on the cell surface, and can bind to ligands such as AGE, Aβ and synaptic growth factor to activate microglia, induce the production of inflammatory factors, NO, ROS and other substances, and trigger a cascade reaction to aggravate AD (Maclean et al., 2019).
