Inhibition of NF-κB in mice has been shown to protect β-cells from streptozotocin induced T1DM (Eldor et al., 2006) while, upregulation of NF-κB signaling in hepatocytes is associated with the etiology of Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) (Cai et al., 2005). This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
