Lawrence et al. (70) observed that use of PGE1 significantly reduced B-Natriuretic peptide levels (BNP, a plasma biomarker of pulmonary hypertension and associated cardiac strain) and echocardiographic indices of PH, as assessed by tricuspid regurgitation jet velocity, ductus arteriosus direction, and ventricular septum position. This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and pulmonary hypertension.
