PTX3 and stroke disorder: More recently, Oggioni and colleagues showed that long pentraxin PTX3, a pattern recognition molecule involved both in neurogenesis after secondary damage in TBI (160) and BBB integrity in stroke (161), is localized in the proximity of neutrophils and of NET-like structures only in the acute phase of CCI mouse model, suggesting that NETs could contribute via-PTX3 to the subacute stage of TBI (162).
