CRP and parasitic infectious disease: Our data shows that C-reactive protein concentrations were increased at the peak of asexual parasitemia compared to baseline (mean 24.0 mg/L ± 4.7 vs 1.3 mg/L ± 0.3), but returned to normal during gametocytemia (3.7 mg/L ± 1.6) and at day 64 (3.1 mg/L ± 2.3).
