Pro‐inflammatory cytokines were highest at ICU admission and decreased over time, both in the patients with obesity and group without obesity (p < 0.05 for all cytokines). Except for slightly higher IP‐10 levels in patients with obesity versus individuals without obesity at days 9–10. BMI did not correlate with concentrations of IL‐6, TNF‐α, and IP‐10 at ICU admission (r = −0.09, p = 0.61, r = 0.03, p = 0.99 and r = 0.28, p = 0.11, respectively) or any other cytokine measured (r values ranging from −0.11 to 0.06; p values all >0.50). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL10 and obesity disorder.
