In some of the few studies addressing this issue, shorter leukocyte telomere length was associated with insomnia and poor sleep quality in younger and older adults [133–137] while in the Women’s Health Initiative study, Carrol and colleagues examined 2078 women with a mean age of 64.5(±7.1) and found that insomnia symptoms were associated with increased epigenetic age and accumulation of late differentiated CD8+CD28−CD45RA− T-cells [138]. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is insomnia measurement.
